I remember visiting th
e beautiful Sistine Chapel in 2006. The room was filled with people, standing so close together that you could barely move and you were just moved along with the crowd.
It seemed sacrilegious but we had to beware of pickpockets. You are an easy mark in there because you are so close that you are bumping into each other constantly and you are distracted as you take in the beauty of studying each panel.
Then our necks became sore from looking up for so long. The Swiss Guards keep the silence, you aren't allowed to talk inside the Sistine Chapel. People still talked under their breath though and you heard this low murmur.
